Type 1 and Type 2

Type 1 diabetes requires insulin injections or an insulin pump. Type 2 diabetes can in most cases be controlled with food choices, physical activity and, for some people, a combination of medication and insulin injections.

Gestational

Gestational diabetes is usually diagnosed during the second or third trimester of pregnancy.  It is controlled through food choices, physical activity and sometimes with insulin injections or an insulin pump.  In most cases this type of diabetes goes away after the baby is born.

Prediabetes

Prediabetes is a time when glucose levels are at the upper range of normal and the risk of developing Type 2 diabetes is increased. Just like Type 2 diabetes it is important to make healthy food choices and include physical activity.
